What does that actually mean ?

On October 31, 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto published the original Bitcoin white paper, which stated in part:

“What is needed is an electronic payment system based on cryptographic proof instead of trust, allowing any two willing parties to transact directly with each other without the need for a trusted third party.”

In January, 2018, is that what we generally find? We do not. The vast majority of Bitcoin transactions take place through centralized or centrally-managed exchanges or other types of “trusted third parties”.

In the opinion of the Bitcoin Atom team, this directly negates not only the original vision of Satoshi Nakamoto, but even more importantly, it directly detracts from the power and potential of Bitcoin to be a truly revolutionary change that positively impacts, literally, billions of people, over time.

About Bitcoin Atom

Bitcoin Atom (BCA) is Segwit which activates Bitcoin forks with on-chain atom swaps on board and hybrid consensus. Atomic Bitcoin enables the exchange of decentralized digital assets by utilizing the time-locked hash (HTLC) contract and its own HTLC API, providing freedom from intermediaries and centralized entities.

The Atomic Bitcoin development team is working on a special toolkit for on-chain and off-chain network swaps, which enables the exchange of all crypto in inconvenient paths across different blocks. The off-chain lined lightning network is scheduled to launch in 2018.
